Welcome!

Welcome to Lower Quoys and Mole End holiday rentals.  These are two self-catering units located on the same site in Evie on the West Mainland of Orkney.

Lower Quoys is a 4 acre old farm built in the 1800’s.  It is a traditional long farmhouse very close to Evie beach with views across open farmland at the rear to Eynhallow Sound and Rousay Island.

It is the most accessible, centrally located area on the West of the Mainland, providing an excellent base from which to appreciate all that Orkney has to offer.

Lower Quoys offers a contemporary furnished two bedroomed, two storey house on a self-catering basis. The house was completely renovated and offered to the holiday market for the first time at the end of 2016.  It has private parking and a garden with outdoor seating.

Mole End Cottage is a cosy ‘But and Ben’ single storey cottage made for two with one double bedroom. Also offered on a self-catering basis, it has its own private garden, parking for one vehicle and outdoor seating area. With Mole End we can now offer accommodation for up to six across both properties.

Eynhallow Sound is a magnificent stretch of water, and includes the small uninhabited Island of Eynhallow.  The name ‘Eynhallow’ comes from the Old Norse, Eyin Helga (‘Holy Island’). It’s also easy to see the Island of Rousay, accessible by boat from Tingwall jetty just around the corner. Aikerness beach or ‘Evie beach’ is within walking distance or a 2 minute drive if you’d prefer.  It is a sandy beach with crystal clear waters, excellent for walking, swimming and seal spotting. Toilets and parking are available at the beach.

Evie is 20 minutes drive from both Kirkwall and Stromness the two main towns on the Mainland. Also being a similar distance to the Neolithic World Heritage UNESCO Site at Stennes (Ring of Brodgar, Maeshowe, Skara Brae, Standing Stones etc). Within the parish of Evie and Rendall are a number of prehistoric features, including Gurness, an Iron Age Broch that overlooks Eynhallow Sound.  Evie village boasts a shop with post office and café (Eviedale Café & Bistro). The Fern Valley Wildlife Centre is also close by at Tingwall.
